Glossary
Quick reference for terms used throughout TradeStars.
Arena
A weekly contest for a specific league. Each arena has its own fixture calendar, leaderboard, and prize pool.
Entry
One independent portfolio in an arena. Each entry has its own credit balance, holdings, score, and ranking. You can run multiple entries in the same arena with different strategies.
Credits
Virtual currency used to trade player shares within an arena. Each entry starts with 1,000 credits. Credits are non-withdrawable and reset every week — they exist only within the arena they were issued in.
Shares
Units of exposure to a player’s fantasy output. The more shares you hold in a player, the more their fantasy points contribute to your leaderboard score.
Floor Price
The starting price of a player’s shares when an arena opens. Set based on projected fantasy points for the week — star players start at higher prices.
Bonding Curve
A pricing rule that links price to demand. When more people buy, price goes up. When people sell, price goes down. This is what makes TradeStars a trading game rather than a fixed-price draft.
Spread
A 1% gap between buy and sell prices, built into the market. It means buying and immediately selling costs you about 1% — designed to reward holding through matches rather than zero-risk flipping.
Slippage
The price impact of large orders. Buying many shares at once costs progressively more per share. Encourages diversifying across multiple players rather than going all-in.
Live Scoring Delay
Trading stays open during live matches, but score impact updates on official stats refreshes. Live buys start earning from the next refresh, and live sells stop earning after the next refresh.
Credit Recycling
The strategy of selling shares after a match finishes to free up credits, then reinvesting those credits into players with upcoming fixtures. This is the core loop of active management in TradeStars.
Inactivity Penalty (Theta Decay)
A 5% score penalty on a specific player position if you do not trade that player for 48 hours. The timer is per player, not portfolio-wide.
Leaderboard Score
Your total portfolio score: points earned by the shares you held over time across all players. This determines your ranking and whether you receive a payout.
Finalization (Settlement)
The end-of-arena process where rankings are locked and the prize pool is paid to the top 3 portfolios via Solana.
Ownership Cap
A 10% limit on how many of a player’s circulating shares any single entry can hold. Prevents concentration and ensures market liquidity for all participants.
